Working at a winery was an educational and wonderful experience. It's a field that continues to evolve and there is always more to learn. Working at a winery might not be for everyone but it was defintely for me. I love being in a position where I can continue to learn, grow, and evolve. I had a number of responsibilities here including keeping up with inventory, the POS system, and training new employees. I also had the opportunity to not only teach guest about wine but also made sure they had a memorable experience.
Working at the winery, as well as my experience bartending is extremely valuable especially when pursuing a career in Hospitality. No matter the job, you learn that you will always come across difficult problems. However it does become a little more challenging when a guest is under the influence. Fortunately I have not had to cut anyone off with my experience at the winery but it did happen several times while bartending. Working in a bar setting you learn how to speak to guest without making them upset. It is always a challenge but every person may need a different approach. As the employee serving the alcohol I had to be aware of any signs of a guest becoming intoxicated and what to do in the event. With this experience I feel comfortable working in a setting where alcohol is served. I also have the ability to catch a situation before it becomes a problem or if there is already a problem I know how to solve it.
